The official developer preview version of Windows Phone 8.1 is releasing today on 14th April 2014 according to the reports. The developer preview is available to all devices running the Windows Phone 8 version on their Windows Phone. The update will allow the developers to test the pre release features of WP8.1. We have already discussed about the expected features of WP8.1. The developer preview version will be available only to developers of WP and only those users who have active developers account. Here in this post, I am going to discuss the following things:
1. How to get the update notification for WP8.1 developer preview.
2. How to install and update WP8.1.
3. Size of the update in MB of WP8.1.
Now talking about the first thing, that how to get a developer account and how to get the notification for WP 8.1 preview. What you have to do is go to Microsoft website’s and register yourself as a developer. You will charged for this service and you will get a developer account.
Next step is you have to install the app named: Preview for Developers which is available in the WP store for free. Open that app and check mark ‘Enable Preview for Developers‘ option. Then tap Done. Now you have enabled the developers preview for WP8.1 and you will enjoy the pre release features.
Next what you have to do is to go to the Settings–> Phone Updates and tap check for updates. You will get a notification that an update is ready to be downloaded. Note one thing, that you need a WiFi connection to download the update.
Till now no update is available for WP8.1 so we are not mentioning the exact size of update of WP8.1 but it is expected to be around several of MBs like 800 to 2000 MB. So it will better that you have a good WiFi connection with unlimited data.
